What: Theatre Puget Sound's Unified General Auditions
 

Once-a-year regional auditions, well attended by Auditors from across the Northwest region and both Union and non-Union actors from all over the United States.

Actors please be prepared to bring up to 60 headshots/resumes, depending on the day you audition. With your audition confirmation, you will receive information on approximately how many headshots/resumes you will need.

Current Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) or Portland Area Theatre Alliance (PATA) membership required to receive an audition slot

  • TIME LIMIT (time limit STRICTLY enforced)
    • AEA/EMC: 3 MINUTES
  • Must bring AEA/EMC card to auditions
  • The UGA's are an annual event. If you auditioned in the Feb 15-18, 10 auditions, you are eligible to audition in the Feb , 11 auditions.
  • Performers who wish to sing must specify so on their audition application. 18 bars of a song will be allowed as long as it is within your time limit. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the proper key. No recorded music.
  • Actors of color, actors with disabilities, younger actors (18 and under) and mature actors (50 and older) are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Auditor request - Two contrasting pieces of your choice (2nd piece may be 18 bars of song if desired).

Non-AEA, College/University, Youth (who qualify WITH theatre credits)
 
  • TIME LIMIT 2 MINUTES (time limit STRICTLY enforced)
  • Must fulfill at least one of the following eligibility requirements:
    • attended at least 1 (one) year of a Professional Actor Training program (full-time in a BFA, MFA or accredited conservatory program).
      -or-
    • Equity Membership Candidate (EMC, has paid initial Equity membership fee and are accruing points towards Equity membership)
      -or-
    • resume clearly shows at least 4 (four) stage credits (non-academic - which means any full production that you auditioned, were cast, rehearsed and performed that was not self-produced, and not from any schooling - grade school, jr. high, high school, college, university or studio class work). In addition: Please list the 'producing company' for all credits. 'Venues' will not be accepted. If you feel that a self-produced project should be considered for this requirement, please include an explanation for special consideration.
      -or-
    • Resume clearly shows at least 4 (four) college/university stage credits WITH a signed Department Head Recommendation. Click here for complete student requirements.

Time Limit:

Actors Equity Members & Equity Membership Candidates auditioning will receive 3 minutes.

All actors auditioning on either the second or third day of auditions will receive 2 minutes will receive 2 minutes.

Time limit is strictly enforced. Meaning: actors will be cut off by a timer when their time is up.

Eligibility Requirements for Recent College/University Graduate Applicants

Recent college/university graduates who are 18 years and older as of Feb 2011 10AM - 5PM, may apply for the TPS Unified General Auditions using credits from school productions in order to meet the minimum non-Equity resume criteria. To qualify for this category you MUST

  1. have graduated or will be graduating with a theatre or other performing arts related degree between Spring 2009 and Spring 2010,
  2. be a current Individual Member of Theatre Puget Sound - at the time of UGA's (currently 2010)
  3. AND have minimum 4 qualifying credits BETWEEN college/university and professional,
  4. AND have the signature recommendation of your College/University Department Head verifying your college credits (DOWNLOAD signature form here)
